Last year I shared a winter skincare routine as part of my Blogmas posts. A year on and I’ve definitely changed my routine up – for the better! One product however has remained constant and there are plenty of good reasons as to why.
The one product that has remained in my routine and I don’t see disappearing any time soon is Pixi’s Glow Tonic. I first picked this up around a year ago from Target in America. I picked it up because my skin was dry and rough which meant make up wasn’t sitting very well. There had been so many reviews on the Glow Tonic that I decided to try it for myself. And I haven’t looked back since! I can definitely tell when I haven’t been using it! It’s something that I’ll be sure to never be without in my routine or at least my skin care drawer!
So, lets get down to it with my current skincare routine!
I start by cleansing my face (whether I’ve been wearing make up or not). I do this using the Cleansing Butter from the Body Shop and you have read all about why I love it so much in this post. If I’ve had a lot of eye make up on I tend to cleanse twice. If I’m feeling lazy I often reach for micellar water and a cotton pad!
Once I’ve cleansed and my face is feeling clean I go in with a serum. At the moment I’m using The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid. I find that now my skin is much more on track and no longer super dry, I can use a couple of drops of this for my whole face.
Once my serum has had time to sink in I go in with an eye cream. I’m currently using the Orgins GinZing eye cream and loving it! It’s especially great during the day as it brightens under the eye and reduces the appearance of dark circles.
I’ll then go in with my moisturiser. I’m currently working my way through L’Oreal’s Hydra Genius. It’s name is spot on as it’s definitely a watery texture. It does take a couple of minutes to sink in but I feel like that means it’s going my skin good! It has definitely helped to keep my skin nourished as I find even at the end of the day my make up hasn’t clung to any dry patches.
Swapping and changing products is not the answer to great skin! Yes, change it up if it’s not working but you’ll usually find skincare takes a while to work and for you to fully see the benefits! I’ve also found that just because something works for someone with a similar skin type, it may not work the same for you. Currently, my skin is in a much better condition than last year. I think it’s taken a while but perseverance has been key.
