I was recently browsing the skincare aisle in my local Boots store when I came across the new launch from Garnier. Their Micellar cleansing waters are a big hit with me and many of my friends, my personal favourite being the oil infused water. When I saw this gel hybrid, I thought I had to give it a go, especially as I was on the lookout for a new cleanser. I alternate between my oil infused water and an oil cleanser which has now come to an end. As I have enjoyed using the rest of the range I decided to pick this up, especially as it was on offer!
On first impressions, this definitely had a gel like consistency (as you’d expect!) and was quite thick. I used a pump and a half which I felt was enough to cover my face! Now, as soon as I started to rub this in my face I noticed the scent! Unlike the cleansing water this had a very strong scent. To me it smelt almost like an alcohol sanitizer! The bottle said that this would foam which it definitely did!
As I started to cleanse off my make up, of course I came to my mascara. This is where the product disappointed me the most! It stung my eyes ALOT! It almost felt like I had got shampoo in my eye! Usually with cleansers I have no trouble removing my eye make up and it doesn’t hurt at all. The fact that it stung so much was a bit of a let down as I would want to be able to use this to take off all of my make up which of course includes my eye make up!
It did however remove my make up really well! I used a soft flannel to remove the cleanser and make up which worked really well. I didn’t have to rub or scrub my face and it melted away really well.
I think once you’re over the initial smell and sting this could be a really effective way of removing your make up. In all honesty though, I do think I’ll be sticking to Cleanse and Polish or The Body Shop Cleansing Oil.
You can pick the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel from Boots and it is currently on offer for £2.66 (at the time of posting!).
